The Walker School POTA (Patrons Of The Arts) and Mr. Motter, Director of Bands at The Walker School, will be hosting a fun community event to raise funds for the Upper School band’s upcoming trip to perform at Carnegie Hall in the Spring.
XZALT, Motter's own swing band, will be performing Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Coca-Cola Family Auditorium. You are all invited to Swing & Sway the Night Away, a swing concert and dance party open to the public. Also featured will be Endre Rice of the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra! Wow!
Come enjoy the concert or dance the night away or a little of both! All proceeds for this event will benefit the NY trip. Don't know how to swing dance?... That's OK! Before the show starts, free swing dance lessons will be offered by professional dancers including Walker’s own Brian and Ingrid Surkan. No partner needed! Come single or come as a couple!
Dress the part! There will be a cash prize for the best 1940s costume.
